Madagascan Bourbon Vanilla Pods
Madagascan vanilla is renowned by many as the best vanilla in the world. Our pods are grouped into 2 categories:
Gourmet: These vanilla pods are grade A, have a high vanillin content, are 15-17cm long and have an average moisture content. They weigh approx 2.5g per pod and start from less than 20p a pod.
Premium: These vanilla pods are grade A, have a very high vanillin content, are 17-20cm long and have a high moisture content. They weigh approx 4g per pod and start from less than 45p a pod.

Normal extraction processes for oily compounds is done through a form of alcohol extraction. The reason for this is that alcohol is one of the very few solvents in which the extracted lipids from certain extractions can dissolve into. Vanilla is a lipid and so until now could only be extracted through this method, but some pioneering advances in technology have led to a process by which gases can be super-cooled and passed through vanilla to extract its compounds into the gas. The gas then evaporates leaving a pure extract in various forms which can then be used for various purposes. This gives the resulting extract the following properties:
It has a much stronger flavour as more of the lipids are extracted from the vanilla than conventional processes
It has absolutely no alcohol content
It requires no stabilising agent
It has a very long shelf life (2-3 years)
It needs no additives
It needs no preservatives
It is a completely clear product
We sell this product in an invert solution in 4 variations, in either 200g/l or 400g/l concentrations and both with and without the seeds. They are currently only available in 50ml retail bottles or in catering pack sizes for our wholesale customers, but we will be introducing new sizes later in the year.
Our original extract range of extracts is still available in 40ml, 100ml and 250ml sizes at very competitive prices, but note that there are traces of alcohol in these products as with all traditional extracts, even though ours have one of the lowest percentages on the market (< 1%).
Vanilla Powder
Madagascan Bourbon Vanilla Powder Our Vanilla powder is a pure product that contains nothing but the pure vanilla crushed using a special drying and grinding machine to produce a fine powder. None of the pod is wasted and it results in a totally pure product. Of course like all our other food products there are no artificial colourings, flavourings, preservatives or carriers.
Perfect because of its versatility when used in your cooking; a small quantity is enough to add a wonderful fragrance and taste without the need for infusion.
This product contains approximately 12 pods of grade A vanilla,none of which is wasted, and is sold in 2 quantities on-line, either in a 20g glass jar or 500g sealed bag in an aluminium tin.
